4 Types of Infant Care Programmes in Singapore

Infant care is a special type of early childhood education programme. This is commonly available in Singapore’s childcare centres and baby care centres.

These programmes is useful for babies between six weeks and two years old who have not yet reached school age.

They provide daily care, meals, nap time, and parent–child interaction programmes. They also provide home visits to children who need special attention or have special needs.

Early Childhood Education (ECE)

Childcare centres in Singapore are the most common type of ECE provision for young children. They are both the government and private sector property.

There are around 5,000 childcare centres in Singapore, which provide child care services for more than 240,000 children between the ages of one and six years old.

The vast majority of these centres (85 per cent) have privately owned and operated. They have regulated by the Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports (MCYS).

In addition to child care services, some of these centres also provide educational programmes as part of their service package.

These centres run by both the government and private sector. There are more than 100 baby care centres in Singapore. They provide care for babies between six weeks and two years old who have not yet reached school age.
