For parents and children to conquer the PSLE, there are a few things to keep in mind.

Prepare for your child’s weaknesses

Knowing what your child’s weaknesses are, will allow you to target his/her needs and help him/her improve. We suggest him/her assessed so that you know exactly where he/she stands in his/her learning journey.

There are many assessment centres out there and we highly recommend PSLE Tutor for this purpose.

For the older child, it is important to work on improving the weaker areas and for the younger child, it is important to build up the foundations for future learning.

Find out what they like

Some children learn better when they has engaged in their learning. This could happened after they have interested in their learning.

For example by making sure that he/she enjoys his/her lessons or by letting him/her take part in a subject that he/she likes or is good at.

Make sure that your child gets exposed to different types of materials and teaching methods.

So that he/she can have a wide range of experiences and skills which will serve him well in life.

Ensure good study habits early on

Good study habits such as time management, self-discipline, focus etc should be instilled from an early age.

So that they become second nature later on when the pressure is on! Good study habits will also help with concentration which is an important skill required for success at school.

Help your child with the tough topics

Your child may not be able to score highly in certain subjects but it is important that he/she understand the material.

There are other ways to ensure that your child learns the concepts learned in class, for example, whether he or she is deficient in Mathematics.

You may, for example, assist him in solving the problems on his own or find him a mentor who can teach him these concepts.

For languages, it is important to ensure that your child understands what he/she is learning and be able to communicate in the language.

Find a good tutor who can teach your child well

A good tutor will be able to provide a good foundation for your child’s learning and help him/her improve on his/her weaknesses.

A good tutor will also be able to give useful tips and suggestions which will help your child’s studies in the long run.

In order to find a good tutor, you should go through several references and speak to parents whose children have had tutoring sessions with them before making a decision.

The PSLE Tutor provides a list of its tutors on its website so that parents can make an informed decision before signing up for lessons with them.

You should also ask around for recommendations from friends and family members who have used tutors before as they might know of some reputable ones as well!

In summary

The PSLE is an important milestone in your child’s life and will set the tone for his/her future. The way you prepare your child for the PSLE will have a huge impact on his/her success in school and his/her future career.

With this in mind, we hope that this article has given you some insight into how to prepare your child for the PSLE and help him/her succeed.
