How to utilise travelling time for revision on the train and bus

The number of hours you spend travelling to and from school is probably the most significant chunk of time you have to study for your exams.

If you are like me, you will be travelling for about 2 hours a day, 5 days a week. That’s 10 hours a week or 50 hours a month. That’s enough time to learn an entire A-Level subject!

But it’s not just the time that is important, it’s also the environment that you are in. You need to be able to focus on your revision and not be distracted by other people or the things going on around you.

This is why I recommend that you do your revision on the train or bus. It’s a great way to use your travelling time for revision and it will help you to keep focused on what you are doing.

I would also recommend that you do your revision in small chunks of time. This will stop you from the boringness. Also, it will stop you from getting distracted by other things going on around you.

How to revise effectively when travelling to school

If you are going to be revising on the train or bus, then there are a few things that I would recommend that you do:

Make sure that the environment is quiet and calm. You don’t want people talking loudly around you or playing music in the background. If this is happening, then try and find another seat where it isn’t happening.

If this isn’t possible, then ask them politely if they could turn it down or turn it off completely. Try and find a seat where there aren’t too many people around you so that they aren’t distracting you either.

If there are no seats available, then stand up! It might be uncomfortable at first but if it means that you can get on with your revision, then it’s worth it.

Make sure that you have everything that you need to revise with you. You don’t want to be stuck without a pen or paper when you are revising.

Make sure that you have a good revision timetable. You don’t want to be wasting time on the train or bus trying to figure out what you are going to revise.

Make sure that you have a good revision timetable in place and that you are following it as closely as possible.

Make sure that you are not tempted to do anything else on the train or bus. Such as watching videos or playing games. You want to use this time wisely and not waste it!
