The burnout epidemic among tutors: How can tuition teachers better manage their time?

Burnout is not just an issue for full-time tutors, but also for those who tutor on the side. It can be easy to fall into the trap of trying to squeeze too much into a small amount of time.

In fact, I have even seen burnout among tutors who tutor in their spare time while working full-time jobs!

If you are feeling burnt out, or even if you have stressed about juggling your busy schedule. Here are some tips to help you manage your time better and reduce stress:

Delegate tasks to other people in your life

The biggest time waster is doing things that someone else could do for you. For example, if you have a student who struggles with reading, you might be want to do all of the reading assignments with them.

However, if you are short on time, it would be better to find someone else to read the text aloud for the student while you work on other skills.

If a parent is available, they could read the text aloud to the student and explain any confusing words or concepts.

Or, if you have a high school or college student in your life who can help out with reading comprehension practice, they can be very helpful!

Make sure that students have good homework habits

If your students don’t have good homework habits (such as taking their time on homework and not rushing through it), then it is even more important that you set aside time each day for tutoring.

This will ensure that your students are learning new material every day. As a tutor, it is not fair to expect your students to remember everything from the previous day.

Because they did not take enough time with their homework. So make sure that your students understand how important it is for them. In order to spend at least 30 minutes each night working on their homework.

Take breaks when you need them

If you are feeling stressed out and burnt out from tutoring or from another job, then don’t be afraid to take a break! Try doing something relaxing such as yoga or going for a walk in nature.

Taking breaks throughout the day will reduce stress and help prevent burnout later on down the road. Also, don’t forget about taking mental health days when needed!

There is no shame in taking a mental health day here and there if things get too stressful. Remember that sometimes it is okay to say “no” to things so that you can focus on what matters most – yourself!

In summary, it is important to take care of yourself as a tutor so that you can continue to help your students for many years to come.
