How to be Singapore Management University Undergraduate Student?

This question is a question by many parents with their children wanting to study in Singapore. I’ve been there myself as well. It has been a few years since I graduated from SMU but you can still ask my friends who are also studying in SMU about this matter.

The reality of it is that, it is not easy to get into the university. Especially, if you’re planning to study business-related courses like me.

The number of applicants for SMU undergraduate courses are much higher than the number of available seats. Similarly, the additional requirements are important things to look at before getting into the school.

So, what are the steps you need to take?

Take a look at the SMU undergraduate admission requirements and checklist.

STEP 1: Online Application

Apply for SMU undergraduate courses online here: https://smuadm.smu.edu.sg/students/admissions/application-process1/apply-for-smu-undergraduate-courses/applying-online1/.

According to the information you provide, SMU will then determine your academic eligibility. In order to check between the program qualification with your application (i.e can you meet the minimum required GPA of 2.0 out of 4 in your last two years of schooling before applying for business related courses?).

The application process is pretty straightforward. Make sure that you followed the instructions in the popup message. Such as, uploading the required documents and do not forget to attach your passport photo.

STEP 2: Acceptance Confirmation

If you’re success in the entrance process, SMU will then send you an official document. You'll receive it via email consist of your acceptance acknowledgement. This is the step of “Confirmation of Enrolment” or COE (to be able to access this document, you must have an SMU online account).

You are now officially Singapore Management University Undergraduate Student!

STEP 3: Online Payment Completion.

Once you receive your confirmation, you must complete the online payment immediately to confirm your seat in SMU.

The payment processor accepts either Visa or MasterCard credit cards only. There is a non-refundable fee of SGD 1,100 (this is a one time fee only). All students who want to study at SMU must make this payment within 4 weeks after receiving their COE.

STEP 4: Scholarship Application, or Financial Assistance

Once paid for, you can now apply for scholarship or any financial assistance. It is available through MOE i.e MOE Scholarship Scheme (MSF) here: https://smuadm.smu.edu.sg/students/admissions/application-process1/apply-for-smu-scholarship/apply-for-smu-scholarship/.

For more information, you may visit the SMU scholarship website here: https://smuadm.smu.edu.sg/students/admissions/application-process1/apply-for-smu-scholarship/.

STEP 5: Course taking

If you are still unsure on which course to take. I would suggest that you go through the SMU undergraduate admission requirements and checklist.

Thus, that you can ensure that your academic qualification is met before applying for any undergraduate course offered by SMU.

Singapore Management University is one of the best business universities in Singapore. Considering how competitive it is to get in, you should think through your decision of choosing a university carefully. If you’ve decided SMU is the right place for you, go ahead and apply now!
