What are the major differences between online tuition and home tuition?

The world is changing. There are so many people who want to pursue their career in the field of teaching. However, there are not many people who can get the chance to be a teacher. It is a job that has been considered to be a rewarding one.

One needs to work hard and put in lots of effort in order to become a good teacher. It is only after years of hard work that one can become an experienced teacher with good salary and good perks and actually help school students significantly.

There are many people who want to get into this field, but they do not have enough money or qualifications for it. The only way out for them is either to go back to school or try online teaching and tutoring jobs as an alternative career option.

If you compare online tuition with home tuition, then you will notice that both ways have their own advantages and disadvantages when it comes to educating children or students at home as compared with taking engaging lessons from an instructor or tutors in school premises or any other place that has been approved by the government.

It is up to you to decide which one you want to go for. The key thing is that the student or the child should be satisfied with whatever he or she is doing. If they are happy, then it does not matter what method you use to teach them.

On the other hand, if you are a teacher who wants to go online, then you should be aware of the various benefits and drawbacks that come with it.

For example, you can choose your own timings. You can set your own schedule and decide when you want to start teaching the students and when you want to end it. You can also decide when you want to take a break.

However, you will have to pay for the equipment and other things like Internet service, software and so on. You can also teach students from all over the world as long as they are using the Internet.

You can give them assignments or even conduct tests through online means as well. The student will not be able to ask you questions verbally in this case, but he or she can do it by writing down their queries and sending it to you via email or any other mode of communication that you decide upon with them.

So, what are the key differences between online tuition and home tuition?

We can differentiate the two in the following ways:

1. The location

If you choose home tuition, then the tutor will be teaching the student at home. The student will be sitting in a comfortable place while the tutor or teacher will sit on a chair and conduct his or her class one-on-one.

On the other hand, if you choose online tuition, then the school student will be sitting in his or her home while the teacher will be sitting in his or her home as well. However, the teacher will be giving the class through the Internet, not meeting each other face-to-face.

2. The cost

The cost of home tuition is usually a bit more expensive than the cost of online tuition. This is because as mentioned above; if you choose home tuition, then sometimes you will have to pay for the tutor’s salary, travel expenses and other miscellaneous costs.

On the other hand, if you choose online tuition, then you only have to pay for the tutor’s salary. You will not have to pay for travel expenses or any other costs that come with home tuition.

3. The student’s performance

When it comes to home tuition, the student can get better grades because he or she is more comfortable in the environment and the tutor can directly see his or her performance. However, in online tuition, you cannot see the student’s performance.

The student will have to work hard on his or her own. The tutor cannot see whether the student is making any progress or not unless there are proper communication channels between the two.

4. The method of teaching

When it comes to a reliable home tutor, the private tutor can use different methods of teaching whether it's visual, auditory or kinesthetic. The student can get a good understanding of the subject because the private tutor will be using a lot of visual aids and other things to help the student understand better.

On the other hand, if you choose online tuition centre, then the tutor cannot use different methods of teaching because he or she cannot see the student’s body language and facial expressions.

He or she will have to use only auditory methods to teach the student with the help of e-books and other online resources.

Which is the better way for the kids to gain knowledge?

Both online tuition and home tuition have their own advantages and disadvantages, and they help develop critical thinking skills differently. However, there is no way to tell which one is better than the other. It all depends on the student and what he or she feels comfortable with.

Some students will understand better when they are taught directly, and some others will understand better to study more individually with a little bit of help through the internet and online learning platform. You will have to ask the student which one he or she feels more comfortable with, and then you can decide which way to go.
